All sorts of things go on at the Main Street Museum. Our little stage has hosted radical puppet troops, a variety of rock n' rollers, parties, poetry readings, conferences, movies and a slew of other live happenings.
After you've read over the helpful notes below, feel free to contact us with your inquiry at info@mainstreetmuseum.org.

Private Events:
Are you in need of a unique environment to host your celebration, meeting or event? The Main Street Museum is available for private events small and large. We are able to provide our incomparable setting, complete with expansive balcony porch over looking the White River, accompanied by beverages and light h'orderves. Contact us at info@mainstreetmuseum.org for more information.
Public Events:
The Museum is proud to be a destination for cultural events in the Upper Valley. If you're seeking a venue for your band, screening, visual art or readings, do feel free to contact us.
The following is designed to help you figure out if the Museum is the right venue for your act.
Stage:
Our stage is teensy, 8' x 10'. There's a BEAUTIFUL Victrola that lives on the stage. We know, it's in the way. Well, so far, it's been worked around with little problem, so don't be deterred. Instead, be resourceful! Bands have staggered their members, often with drums on the stage and other players on the floor/around/on the stage. For added flourish, we have some lovely red curtains that are operated with a long stick. Yep, a STICK. Welcome to Vermont, baby.
Capacity:
Seated, about 50 people. Standing and dancing, about 80.
Audio Tech:
We are not high tech, but we have the basics. The person working the event is not always going to be a knowledgeable sound person, so coming early to set up the sound (if necessary) is encouraged.
The Museum is equipped with:
A PA with two speakers, mounted over the stage.
A direct box (6 XLR, 2 Instrument inputs) connected to our sound board
Several mic stands (not boom stands, just the straight up and down type)
Several mics of varying qualities
Lots of XLR cables
One or two instrument cables
That said, feel free to bring your own equipment. We have no amps, drums or other house instruments. We're a museum! Being familiar with a sound board may also come in handy...
Video Tech:
As of July, 2010, our projector has officially bit the dust. We're getting another one, so soon we'll be able to screen movies again. For now, we have the screen, which is hung above the stage. People have brought their own projectors in before for screenings, so don't hesitate to screen here while we work on getting ours back up and running.
Moolah:
The MSM relies on events as a source of very badly needed revenue. We generally charge $5-$8 admission and sometimes more for very special events. Typically, the Museum normally takes half of the door, and half goes to the performers who divide it amongst themselves. This is our normal practice, but we are open to negotiation.
Press:
We'll advertise all upcoming events in our monthly Econo-Spewsletter, which is emailed to our newsletter recipients and postered all over the Upper Valley. We contact local publications and do the Facebook thing. Here's what we need from you:
If you have a high-res image for advertising, send it to us!
